Welcome to Grandma's Cottage

Step into grandma's kitchen where we make memories

Grandma's Cottage.png

Tucked at the edge of the village, where the kettle is always warm and stories linger in the air, sits Grandma’s Cottage.

Here, time slows down. Recipes are remembered, not just followed, and every shared moment becomes part of something bigger.

Through food and storytelling, students don’t just learn… they listen, connect, and carry stories forward.

How to Build Connections Through Food and Learn About Your Family

Cooking with seniors.png

Literacy connections through food storytelling

Research continues to show that experiences like these support whole-child development in powerful ways.

Service Learning:
Students learn from grandparents in a real world setting and have the opportunity to apply these concepts to their daily lives.

Serve & Return:
Grandparents offer skills through storytelling & heritage cooking and students can offer skills needed by seniors such as multimedia tasks.

Connection & Purpose:
Knowing that the stories will carry over to the next generation, there will be a sense of purpose and fulfillment. The connection between grandparent and child can continue to grow after Covid loss.

Restoration:
Restoring recipes and stories of the past and paving a way for future sustainability.

Literacy Developement:
A program that is hands-on and multi-generational builds language skills and "soft skills" such as teamwork.

Life Long Skills:
Students who participate in programs such as these increase their independence skills in cooking and taking care of themselves.
