A Lantern-Lit Sleepover at the Tranquil Treehouse
Chewz Journal • Tranquil Treehouse

This afternoon we wandered the shoreline at Turtle Tide, collecting shells and soaking up the sunshine before making our way back through the forest.
As we climbed the path toward the Tranquil Treehouse, I spotted Aunty Monique kneeling beside her strawberry patch, filling a basket one berry at a time.
She looked up, smiled, and handed each of us an empty basket. "Looks like we have enough hands for a treehouse sleepover tonight."
By the time the lanterns were glowing, our baskets were overflowing with fresh strawberries and we couldn't wait to see what we'd make together.
1. Strawberry Chia Jam
Tiny chia seeds naturally thicken this simple jam without refined sugar or pectin, making it perfect for toast, crackers, yogurt, or oatmeal.

Ingredients
2 cups fresh strawberries, diced
2 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla (optional)
Directions
Add the strawberries, maple syrup, and lemon juice to a small saucepan.
Cook over medium-low heat for 8–10 minutes, gently mashing the berries with a spoon.
Remove from the heat and stir in the chia seeds.
Let the jam sit for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
Refrigerate leftovers for up to one week.
Chia Tip
Chia seeds grow slowly and steadily. They remind us that we don't have to rush to grow.
Treehouse Adventure
Try a Treehouse Charcuterie! Instead of serving only one spread, create a cozy tasting board with strawberry chia jam, almond butter, honey, dairy-free yogurt, gluten-free crackers, toast, and fresh strawberries. Everyone builds three different combinations and secretly votes for their favourite.
2. Warm Strawberry Coconut Crumble
This cozy crumble comes together with simple pantry ingredients and is naturally gluten-free and dairy-free.
Treehouse Adventure
Design Your Perfect Crumble. Set out little bowls of toasted oats, chopped pecans, shredded coconut, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, and cacao nibs. Let everyone sprinkle their own finishing combination over their warm crumble before digging in.
Strawberry Almond Butter Toast
Simple ingredients often make the coziest evening snack.

Ingredients
Gluten-free bread
Almond butter
Fresh strawberries
Hemp hearts
Honey or maple syrup
Cinnamon (optional)
Directions
Toast the bread. Spread with almond butter. Top with sliced strawberries, hemp hearts, and a drizzle of maple syrup or honey. Finish with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.
Treehouse Adventure
Forest Toast Art. Use your strawberries and toppings to create tiny forest scenes on your toast. Build a fern, a winding trail, a sunrise, or even your own little treehouse before enjoying your creation.
4. Forest Strawberry Parfaits
One of my favourite recipes because every layer tells part of the story.
Ingredients
Treehouse Adventure
Build the Forest. Layer your parfait to tell the story of the forest.
Granola becomes the forest floor.
Yogurt becomes the morning mist.
Strawberries become the berry patch.
Seeds become woodland treasures.
Finish with one final ingredient that tells your own part of the story.
5. Strawberry Forest Refresher
The perfect drink after a day spent exploring.

Base Recipe
1 cup fresh strawberries
Juice of ½ lemon
Sparkling water
Ice
Then choose your own Treehouse Blend: Woodland Blend, Garden Blend, Sunshine Blend, Forest Breeze & Berry Blossom
Directions
Lightly muddle the fruit and herbs before adding ice and sparkling water. Stir gently and enjoy.
Treehouse Adventure
Mix Your Own Forest Refresher. Set out bowls of fresh fruit, herbs, citrus, and natural sweeteners. Everyone creates their own signature Treehouse drink and gives it a name before the first sip.
Before We Climbed the Ladder
As the stars slowly appeared between the branches, we carried our snacks onto the porch and listened to the evening settle around us. Aunty Monique smiled as she watched everyone laughing over their creations.
"Food has a wonderful way of slowing people down," she said. "Not because of what's on the table, but because of what happens around it."
